The Art of Adjusting
Some people will choose to come to our office and use their adjustment time as a rare and welcomed opportunity to relax and check out of their minds. Other practice members will have questions every time they come in. Of course, we welcome every kind of person to our office, but we may not always get to answer the question you remembered on your way home. Here is a basic introduction to the what's, how's, and why's of the chiropractic care we offer your Center for Life Chiropractic.
We have been inspired to practice chiropractic using light force adjustments. This unique approach of gentle touch has the intention of enabling the body to assist in the healing process. Put simply, the chiropractor locates areas of the body that may not be communicating at it's best with the rest of the system. An adjustment gives the body energy to correct the communication break down. Because we are intending to give the body input for subluxation correction, we give the adjustment to an area that is integrated, therefore ready to accept a message. This is not the region of maximum tension, inflammation, or fixation. Adjusting there would be like trying to have a conversation with someone who is listening to music with headphones on. It is important to understand that each chiropractor brings his/her own art to the practice members. That being said, our adjusting techniques have been modeled from the work of BGI ( bio-geometric integration), and NSA (network spinal analysis). Both systems are at the forefront of their field combining the latest scientific theories, with fundamental universal laws. When science meets innate intelligence, new meaning is given to the phrase “mind-body connection!”
Bio-Geometric Integration (BGI)
Developer: Dr. Sue Brown
Explanation according to Dr. Brown : BGI empowers chiropractors with, not only the “how” of adjusting, but the “why”, blending perfectly the philosophical concepts of chiropractic with the science of quantum physics. In BGI, the cause of subluxation is explained as “an unintegrated experience of new force frequencies.” If the body cannot fully integrate and dissipate the forces to which it is exposed, it will then store the energy contained in these forces. This energy/force is stored as tension in the physical structures of the body, with the muscular, skeletal and ligamentous systems being the most commonly involved. Tension in these systems causes tension/compression on the nerve system and, thus, subluxations are formed. Release of the stored force/energy/tone will release the tension and, thus, the subluxation.
Structural Adjusting
An adjusting session begins with light force care. After the system is in a place of ease, there may be a structural component that will need to be addressed. The structural adjusting can be performed by various techniques. Since the light force care takes place first, your system will be unguarded, free, and relaxed. This allows the structural adjustment to be administered with less force, but received with greater acceptance.
